Purchase Protection Policy

Version v1.0Last updated July 16, 2026

Incorporated into the Terms of Use (Section 5).

1. Purpose and GarageFind's Role

This Purchase Protection Policy (this "Policy") describes the limited buyer-protection program GarageFind administers for transactions completed through GarageFind checkout ("Purchase Protection Transactions"). It forms part of the Terms of Use, and capitalized terms used but not defined here have the meanings given to them in the Terms of Use.

GarageFind administers Purchase Protection solely as an intermediary and as a discretionary service to Users. GarageFind is not the seller, reseller, merchant, distributor, broker, agent, bailee, inspector, authenticator, certifier, appraiser, insurer, guarantor, or warrantor of any Item; does not take title to or possession of any Item; is not a party to the contract of sale between Buyer and Seller; and does not assume the obligations, representations, warranties, or liabilities of the Seller in respect of any Item. GarageFind does not inspect, authenticate, endorse, certify, guarantee, or control any Item, listing, Seller statement, shipping performance, fitment, condition, legality, safety, quality, usefulness, or performance. Purchase Protection is not a warranty, guarantee, service contract, insurance product, escrow service, or assurance that any Item is authentic, lawful, safe, functional, or fit for any purpose. Where a refund or other resolution is provided under this Policy, GarageFind acts administratively and may apply amounts collected from, held for, offset against, or otherwise recoverable from the Seller; GarageFind does not stand behind any Item as its seller.

2. Eligibility

A transaction is eligible for Purchase Protection only if GarageFind determines, in its sole discretion, that all of the following conditions are satisfied: (a) the transaction was completed and paid in full through GarageFind checkout as a Purchase Protection Transaction; (b) the Buyer timely opened a claim through the Services within the applicable inspection window; (c) the Buyer provided all requested information, documentation, photographs, packaging, tracking information, communications, and other evidence within the time requested by GarageFind; (d) the Item is not excluded under Section 4 or any other GarageFind policy; (e) the Buyer has complied with all claim, return, preservation, cooperation, and communication requirements; (f) neither the Buyer nor the transaction is in breach of the Terms of Use or any applicable law; and (g) GarageFind has not identified abuse, fraud, collusion, duplicate recovery, or other conduct inconsistent with this Policy.

Off-platform payments are not eligible. Any sale in which payment is arranged or made outside GarageFind checkout is not covered, and GarageFind has no obligation and no ability to recover funds, compel performance, or determine outcomes in respect of such a sale. A Buyer who transacts off-platform bears all associated risk.

3. What Purchase Protection Covers

Within the inspection window, a Buyer may open a claim only where GarageFind determines that one of the following objectively verifiable issues occurred:

  • the Item was not received -- carrier tracking does not confirm delivery to the shipping destination provided for the transaction, and the Seller cannot reasonably establish shipment or delivery; or
  • the Item is materially not as described -- the Item received is objectively and materially different from the listing as published at the time of purchase, based on verifiable evidence, and the discrepancy is not attributable to buyer assumptions, fitment expectations, normal used-part variation, cosmetic condition, ordinary wear, installation, handling, storage, use, or information that was disclosed in or reasonably apparent from the listing.

4. What Purchase Protection Does Not Cover

Purchase Protection does not extend to:

  • buyer's remorse or an Item that does not fit, suit, meet expectations, or serve the Buyer's intended use for reasons the Buyer could have determined before purchase;
  • compatibility, fitment, interchangeability, programming, calibration, installation, diagnostic, or vehicle-specific issues;
  • wear, age, mileage, cosmetic condition, corrosion, dirt, missing minor hardware, or condition consistent with the listing or typical for used automotive parts;
  • damage, loss, modification, alteration, disassembly, installation, attempted installation, testing, storage, or use occurring after delivery;
  • issues arising from inaccurate, incomplete, or assumed information supplied by the Buyer;
  • recalls, emissions compliance, hazardous-material concerns, counterfeit allegations, stolen-property concerns, prohibited or restricted Items, or other legal, regulatory, safety, or compliance matters;
  • any payment made outside GarageFind checkout;
  • shipping delays, carrier loss, theft after confirmed delivery, porch piracy, customs issues, import/export restrictions, or address errors not caused by the Seller;
  • taxes, duties, shipping charges, payment-processing fees, installation costs, removal costs, repair costs, diagnostic costs, downtime, substitute parts, lost profits, diminution in value, incidental damages, consequential damages, or special damages; and
  • any matter for which the Buyer has initiated or threatened a chargeback, payment reversal, or other payment-provider claim.

5. Inspection Window and Acceptance

The Buyer has 3 days following confirmed delivery, as established by carrier tracking or other delivery evidence GarageFind considers reliable, to inspect the Item and either accept it or open a claim through the Services. If the Buyer accepts the Item, uses or installs the Item, alters or disassembles the Item, fails to open a claim before the inspection window expires, or otherwise fails to comply with this Policy, the transaction is final, payment may be released to the Seller, and no claim may thereafter be opened under this Policy. Contacting GarageFind support, contacting the Seller, disputing with a carrier, or sending a general message does not, by itself, constitute opening a claim.

6. How to Open a Claim

To open a claim, the Buyer must, within the inspection window, submit the claim through the Services and provide all information reasonably requested by GarageFind, which may include photographs or video of the Item as received, the listing, shipping label, packaging, carrier information, communications with the Seller, vehicle information, part numbers, serial numbers, diagnostic information, and a specific description of the claimed discrepancy. The Buyer must preserve the Item, packaging, labels, documentation, and all related evidence in the condition received and must not install, use, alter, repair, clean, disassemble, dispose of, reship, or transfer the Item unless GarageFind instructs otherwise in writing. Failure to cooperate, preserve evidence, follow instructions, or respond within the time requested may result in denial, closure, reduction, or reversal of coverage.

7. Resolution

GarageFind may review the claim, the listing, transaction records, account history, Buyer and Seller communications, photographs, videos, tracking data, carrier records, payment-provider information, return evidence, and any other information GarageFind considers relevant. GarageFind is not required to conduct any investigation beyond what it considers reasonable under the circumstances. GarageFind may require the Buyer to return the Item to the Seller, may deny a claim if the evidence is incomplete or inconclusive, and may make a final administrative determination where the Buyer and Seller do not reach agreement. The Buyer and Seller authorize GarageFind to make that determination. GarageFind's determination does not constitute an assumption of Seller obligations, a warranty, a guarantee, an admission of liability, or an acknowledgment that GarageFind is the seller of the Item.

A refund or other resolution provided under this Policy is the Buyer's sole and exclusive remedy against GarageFind in respect of an Item that is not received or is not as described. Unless GarageFind expressly determines otherwise, any refund is limited to the purchase price paid for the Item through GarageFind checkout and excludes taxes, duties, shipping charges, payment-processing fees, installation costs, removal costs, repair costs, diagnostic costs, downtime, substitute parts, lost profits, diminution in value, incidental damages, consequential damages, special damages, and any other indirect or out-of-pocket losses.

8. Relationship to Chargebacks

A Buyer may not seek resolution of the same transaction under both this Policy and a chargeback, payment reversal, card-network dispute, payment-provider claim, bank claim, or similar process. If a Buyer initiates, threatens, or maintains any such dispute, GarageFind may suspend, close, deny, or reverse any related claim or provisional credit under this Policy; may provide claim, transaction, account, listing, communication, tracking, and return information to payment processors, financial institutions, card networks, service providers, Sellers, carriers, and other parties involved in the dispute; and may take account action to prevent duplicate recovery or abuse. Conduct intended to obtain duplicate recovery may result in loss of coverage, reversal of credits, collection activity, and suspension or termination of access to the Services.

9. Returns and Refunds

Where a return is required, the Buyer must return the same Item received, in the condition in which it was received, with all included components, accessories, labels, packaging, and documentation, using the method and deadline specified by GarageFind. GarageFind may deny, reduce, reverse, or condition any refund if the Item is not returned, is returned late, is returned to the wrong location, is altered, installed, used, damaged, disassembled, incomplete, switched, missing components, inadequately packaged, or otherwise not returned as directed. The Buyer pays return shipping unless GarageFind determines, in its discretion, that the Seller should bear return shipping for an approved materially-not-as-described claim.

Approved refunds, if any, are issued to the Buyer's original payment method or through another method GarageFind selects and are funded from amounts held for, collected from, offset against, or otherwise recoverable from the Seller. Refund availability and timing may depend on payment-provider, card-network, bank, tax, settlement, fraud-screening, reserve, and compliance rules, and GarageFind does not control payment-network processing times.

10. Seller Reimbursement and Negative Balances

Where a claim is resolved in the Buyer's favor or GarageFind otherwise incurs losses, costs, fees, chargebacks, penalties, reversals, or liabilities arising from a Seller's Item, listing, transaction, conduct, or failure to comply with this Policy, the Seller is responsible for the refunded amount and all related amounts. The Seller authorizes GarageFind and its payment processors to debit, withhold, offset, reverse, delay payout, reserve, set off against future proceeds, recover from a connected account balance, or otherwise collect those amounts by lawful means, as set out in the Terms of Use. The Seller remains responsible for any resulting negative balance, deficiency, collection costs, and related expenses.

11. Appeals

A Buyer or Seller may request review of a determination within 14 days by submitting the request through the Services together with new, material information not reasonably available at the time of the original determination. GarageFind may, in its sole discretion, decline to review, reopen, modify, or reverse a determination. Filing an appeal does not extend deadlines, stay collection activity, require GarageFind to maintain funds on hold, or create any right to a particular outcome. Determinations are otherwise final.

12. Abuse

GarageFind may withhold, deny, reduce, reverse, or revoke Purchase Protection coverage; cancel transactions; delay or recover payouts; require additional verification; and suspend or terminate accounts where it identifies or suspects abuse, including fraudulent or bad-faith claims, misrepresentation by a Buyer or Seller, altered evidence, incomplete or misleading information, collusion, return of an Item other than the Item received, item switching, empty-box returns, intentional damage, abusive chargebacks, serial claims, attempts to evade platform rules, or conduct intended to obtain duplicate recovery.

13. No Warranty; No Assumption of Seller Obligations

Nothing in this Policy makes GarageFind the seller, reseller, manufacturer, distributor, broker, agent, bailee, inspector, authenticator, certifier, appraiser, insurer, guarantor, or warrantor of any Item; a party to any contract of sale; or otherwise responsible for any Item as its seller. GarageFind makes no representation or warranty regarding any Item, listing, Seller, Buyer, shipment, claim outcome, tax treatment, compliance status, or payment-provider action. The disclaimers, assumption of risk, indemnity, release, and limitation of liability in the Terms of Use apply to Purchase Protection in full, and this Policy does not expand GarageFind's liability beyond those Terms.

14. Changes

GarageFind may amend this Policy. Material changes will be communicated with reasonable notice and apply to transactions occurring after the effective date.
