How protection works

Purchase Protection is a secure way to pay and get paid on GarageFind. Here is what it covers for buyers and for sellers, and what changes if you pay outside checkout.

Purchase Protection

For buyers

GarageFind holds your payment while the order ships, then releases it to the seller after the part reaches you and you have had a chance to look it over.

With Purchase Protection

  • GarageFind collects your payment at checkout and releases it to the seller after the item is delivered and the inspection window closes.
  • You get a 3-day window after delivery to inspect the part and report a problem.
  • If something looks wrong, you can open a dispute, and our team reviews the case before the payment is released.
  • Both sides verify their identity before a protected sale.

Without Purchase Protection

  • You arrange payment with the seller outside GarageFind checkout. GarageFind does not process or collect the payment.
  • The dispute process and Purchase Protection do not apply.
  • You and the seller can still verify your identities, even without Purchase Protection.
  • Inspect the part in person where you can, and choose a payment method that carries its own protections.

For sellers

GarageFind confirms the buyer has paid before you ship, and pays you out once the order is complete.

With Purchase Protection

  • The buyer pays up front. GarageFind collects the payment and releases it to your account after delivery and the inspection window closes.
  • Buyers verify their identity before they can pay.
  • A short hold applies after delivery before the payment is released.
  • If a buyer opens a dispute, the payout pauses while our team reviews the case.
  • A released payment can still be reversed if the bank later disputes the charge.

Without Purchase Protection

  • You collect payment yourself. GarageFind advertises the item but does not process the sale.
  • Protected payout and the dispute process do not apply.
  • You and the buyer can still verify your identities, even without Purchase Protection.
  • You are responsible for the payment method and the risk that comes with it.

GarageFind reviews each dispute on its own facts. Protection has limits, and the outcome depends on the evidence both sides provide.
